Last fall, Kylie Marshall concluded one of the best three-year prep volleyball careers ever put together by a Pierce County athlete. Starting in the fall, shešll take her game to the University of Tennessee.
Kylie was an outstanding junior golfer when bit by the volleyball bug as a fifth grader. She has never looked back and has taken her game to the national level.
On the local level, Kylie led Emerald Ridge High School to three consecutive top-four state tournament finishes, including fourth in both 2003 and 2004 and third in 2005. She was voted by her teammates as team MVP all three years, and as team captain during her senior year. During each of her final two seasons she led the South Puget Sound League in kills and aces.
The Seattle P-I named Kylie to its all-star team all three years and picked her as its state MVP in 2005. As a junior and senior, Kylie earned Tacoma News Tribune all-area honors, and was the newspaperšs 2005 Player of the Year. She capped her impressive high school career as the statešs 2005 Gatorade Player of the Year.
On the national level, Kylie was selected to the 2004 USA Youth National Team that won the gold medal at the NORCECA Championships in Puerto Rico. In all, Kylie has spent three years training with U.S. national teams.
She has also played up an age group in club volleyball, helping her teams finish ninth and 11th in different national tournaments.
