Bruce Osborne
Bruce Osborne's decades of duty as a wrestling official began in 1964 when he graduated from Western Washington University. Forty-six years later, he still works the mat, keeping matches clean and fair.
He was the head official for Mat Classic, the all-classification state tournament, in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Osborne has officiated at nearly every league and regional competition and several state tournaments. He has also been influential in the Western Washington Wrestling Officials Association developing training programs and forms for more efficient management. The WWWOA has honored Osborne with its Service Award and Presidents Award, among others over the years.
Osborne was the head wrestling coach at Rogers High School in Puyallup from 1969-79. The school gives the Osborne Award annually to the team member who most exemplifies what it means to be a wrestler at Rogers.
Born in Tacoma May 16, 1942, Osborne graduated from Twin City High School (now Stanwood) in 1960. He followed that by being a part of the inaugural wrestling program at WWU.
