Jakki Davis

Jacqueline (Jakki) Davis was born July 17, 1961, and graduated from Tacoma's Lincoln High School in 1979. After spending time at the University of New Mexico, Davis graduated from the University of Washington in 1984.

Davis' running and long jumping ability set her above her peers at both the high school and collegiate levels. As a high school junior, she was part of the mile relay team that set the all-time Washington state record, as well as qualifying for the National Junior Olympics in Lincoln, Neb., in the long jump. She placed seventh overall in the event.

Her senior year in high school, Davis held records in the city and district meets in the long jump, 440 dash, 220 dash and 440 relay. At the 1979 state track meet, she earned 26 1/2 of Lincoln's 38 points, earning the team second place in the competition.

During her time at the University of New Mexico, Davis set the school long jump record and was part of the mile relay team that set a school record. At the University of Washington, she set the long jump record on two occasions and was once again part of a school record-setting mile relay team. Her best long jump distance of 19-11 1/4 in 1984 still ranks fifth on Washington's Women's All-Time Outdoor Track and Field Performance List.

Davis missed qualifying to the Olympic trials in 1984's long jump event by 1/2 inch. In 2005, she completed the Arizona PF Chang Half Marathon in under three hours. Davis lives in Queen Creek State, Ariz., and works as a realtor investor.
