Kathryn "K.C." Cline Lemon

Born March 25, 1969 in Tacoma, Kathryn Cline Lemon parlayed swimming success at Wilson High in Tacoma into a stellar collegiate career at Brigham Young University.

Lemon earned five NCAA All-America awards during her four years with the Cougars, from 1987 to 1991, and finished in the Top 10 in the backstroke at the NCAA Championships for four years, taking seventh in 1988.

Lemon was a Tacoma Swim Club Senior National Team member over the same four years she swam at BYU and in 1991 she was honored a the Pacific Northwest Swimmer of the Year. She placed 12th in the 100 backstroke at the 1988 Olympic Trials, and broke BYU backstroke records 22 times. And, her BYU records in the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke still stand.

A four-time Western Athletic Conference all-conference swimmer, Lemon was the WAC swimmer of the year in 1991. She also won BYU's Leona Holbrook Spirit of Sport Award, which is given to the woman athlete that exemplifies the spirit of sport in athletics and life.

K. C. graduated from BYU in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in health and a secondary education certificate, earning a GPA 3.58 in spite of her rigorous training and competition schedule.

For a time she returned to the university as the strength coach for the women's swim team. Currently K. C. lives in Provo with her husband, Alan, and their daughter, Kate.
