Mt. Rainier Lutheran
For the second year in a row a Clint Names Multi-Sport Award will go to a student-athlete at Mount Rainier Lutheran high school. This time it will be a three-sport Female star. Her name is Taylor Hoffman and she was a standout performer year-around in the sports of Track & Field, Basketball and Soccer. She also was an outstanding student with a 3.6 GPA in the classroom. Honors came to her in every sport. She was voted the Sea-Tac League Female Athlete of the Year in Track and was first-team All Sea-Tac-League in the 440 Relay and the 200 meters. She also was voted her team’s Most Valuable. In basketball she was twice a first-team All Sea-Tac League point guard, her school’s TAC Athlete of the Year in that sport, and (again) her team’s MVP. She set school records for both points scored in a season (379) and points scored in her career (945). She averaged 15 points per game and set single game records of 9 assists and 12 steals. In Soccer she also was named her school’s TAC Athlete of the Year and was a first-team All Sea-Tac League selection. In fact she was Co-MVP of the league. She scored 25 goals and six assists and holds the school season record of 50 goals and 29 assists. She scored 7 “game-winners” and was team captain, leading the Hawks to 9 wins, a school record. Twice during the year she earned Athlete of the Week recognition from the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) in both basketball and Soccer. In Track she was the Sea-Tac Female MVP of 2016 and was a league champion in 5 events in her career. She was named Athlete of the Year in Track in both her junior and senior years. Her Athletic Director praised her for her community involvement where she helped with youth basketball and soccer. Taylor is being rewarded for her athletic and academic record at MRLH by receiving the first Clint Names Multi-Sport Award to a Female student and a $5,000 college scholarship.
