2019 Clint Names TAC Multi-Sport Excellence Award

    Madison Egan--- Rogers High School

Madison earned 12 trips to state competing in tennis, cross-country, and volleyball. That means she's qualified for a STATE appearance, EVERY season, EVERY year, since her freshman year. She was the 2018 TAC athlete of the year in tennis and finished 3rd in the state in singles in 2017 and 4th in state singles in 2018. She helped guide the Rogers high cross country team to the state meet as a team for the first time in a decade and this past winter she helped the Rogers girls basketball team return to the Tacoma Dome for the first time in over a decade.

As team captain for tennis, basketball and cross country, during both her junior and senior years she positively impacted her teammates and helped guide them to be successful teammates and even better human beings. She is a true leader, both on and off the court. Madison leads by example, and her energy and enthusiasm make her an excellent role model. Her Athletic Director Peter Collins writes, "It is an utter joy to see Madison's spirit, optimism, and continual praise for teammates and coaches, whether from the floor or bench. Her sportsmanship is always at its best."

Her tennis coach writes, "Her mental toughness and ability to handle setbacks are some of Maddie's best qualities. Maddie has brought a positive attitude from day one as a freshman and makes a point of thanking people around her every day. She leaves a legacy defined by work ethic, sportsmanship, and passion. Maddie strives to be better daily and fosters unity in a sport of individuality. Her leadership has a foundation in serving others first while she gives freely of her time."

In 2019, Madison was named SPSL Tennis Player of the year, 1st Team All-League, and was undefeated in League at 13-0.. Beyond the courts and fields, Madison served as ASB Treasurer at Ballou Junior High, worked in student leadership roles including Roger's student council grades 9 through 12, and a member of the National Honors Society.

Madison's work extends beyond the Roger's community through service. She worked as a volunteer youth assistant Coach, refereed 4 on 4 games for the Rams, volunteered at Mountain View Lutheran Church, gave out Seafair boxes, worked at the Rams hoops camps, and was a parking volunteer at the State Fair.

Madison is a remarkable student-athlete who has committed to play tennis at Washington State University and play Pac-12 tennis for a team that has been considered one of the top teams in the conference the past few years. Madison will also not only be the only member on the team from the State of Washington on the roster, but she'll also be the only one from the United States playing on the Cougars team. Congratulations to Madison Egan for being recognized as the 2019 Clint Names Girl Multi-Sport Excellence Award.
