Greg Farias has been involved in several sports as a coach, referee, umpire and coordinator of officials but it is his work specific to softball that he is being recognized for here. Farias is the 2014 President of the Western Washington Umpires Association. He has been an umpire for recreation slowpitch and high school fastpitch. He has coordinated many tournaments and is a National Softball Association Umpire-in-Chief for the Tacoma/Pierce County Region. Farias also has 24 years experience as a softball coach (South Hill Softball/Baseball Club, PLU and Bethel High School). He was an assistant coach for the 1991 NAIA National Champion PLU women’s fastpitch team. Farias has coached girls basketball at Rogers, Bethel and Emerald Ridge high schools and served as a training supervisor and Executive Board Member of the Tacoma Basketball Board. As an elementary school P.E. teacher in the Puyallup district, Farias also has a long resume of community service project leadership which has earned him Citizen of the Year and Teacher of the Year Awards in Puyallup School District.
