SIERRA WANGEN
Curtis Wrestling (SO)

Sierra Wangen hasn't let a 2019 scoliosis diagnosis keep her from accomplishing her goals. Prescribed a brace to wear 16-20 hours a day, but cleared to participate in sports. Wangen continued to fearlessly participate in running and wrestling, taking her brace to meets with her throughout the following two years. As a member of the Curtis Girls' Wrestling Team, Wangen competed at 120-125 lbs. during the 2021-22 season, won her sub-regional, placed 3rd in her region, and placed 3rd at State at 120 lbs; helping lead Curtis to a 3rd place Mat Classic finish. The 14-year old sophomore is also a varsity cross country runner on the track team. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and is working towards a 2nd varsity letter in community service, serviing meals at a local homeless shelter and fostering cats through the local humane society.
