Curtis High School / University of Kansas
2013
Track & Field
Andrea Geubelle repeats as the 2013 Dick Hannula Amateur Athlete of the Year honoree, as the former Curtis High School star has become one of the top female athletes in NCAA track and field.
After claiming her first NCAA National Championship last spring in the indoor triple jump, Geubelle became the first female since 2003 to claim titles in both the long jump and the triple jump when she won both events at the 2013 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Her winning triple jump mark of 46-6 was the second-best indoor mark ever by an American female athlete, and she was named USTFCCCA National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Geubelle has continued to dominate during the outdoor season, as the senior has set new Kansas University program records in both the triple jump (45-7 3/4) and the long jump (21-11 1/2). Her triple jump mark ranks among the NCAA all-time top 10 in the event, and going into the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships, she ranks among the nation’s top three in both events.
Geubelle’s Kansas team enters the NCAA Championships from June 5-9 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., as the top-ranked team in the latest USTFCCCA poll. The 5-5 University Place native will look to cap her collegiate career with individual titles in both the long and triple jump events and help lead her team to an overall national championship.
Regardless of the championship meet results, Geubelle will end her career as one of the most decorated female athletes in NCAA Track and Field history. She is already a three-time All-American in the triple jump and a 2012 All-American in the long jump.
While at Curtis, Geubelle was a three-time Washington state champion in both the long jump and the triple jump. She won gold medals in both events at the 2009 Nike Outdoor Nationals and holds the Washington state triple jump record with a mark of 42-10 ¼ feet. She was also the 2009 Washington state champion in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.87.
